There are some 74 annual crop scientists in the institute, 30 working on cereals, 24 on roots, tubers and plantains, 17 on grain legumes and vegetable crops and 3 on industrial annual crops (Table 1). In the cereal programme, there are 9 breeders, 7 agronomists, 3 pathologists, 3 entomologists, 1 weed scientist, 1 botanist, and 6 in support disciplines.
